Union Wood Walk
If you are interested in walking and seeing more of County Sligo check out the Union Wood Walk. It’s located between Collooney, Ballisodare and Sligo – directions are on the Sligo Walks website.
There are two walks, one is fairly flat, walking through the woodland. It’s popular with runners and dog walkers – and deer! Keep a look out, you might just spot one.
The other walk is to the top of Union Rock. This one is something else! You’d want to be slightly fit as it’s steep in places but it’s easier now there is a wooden walkway to reach the top. You’ll be well rewarded by the stunning views over Sligo. The top of the rock is fairly flat so perfect for a picnic just remember to bring your rubbish home with you.
There’s plenty of places to park at the start of the trails, there’s no toilet. The nearest places to get something to eat would be Ballisodare, Ballygawley, Sligo town or Collooney.
