The Big Fat Comedy Quiz Show

Cairde Sligo Arts Festival will host ‘The Big Fat Comedy Quiz Show’ with MC John Colleary and a host of comedic talent including Kendy & Raybo, Erin Fox, Terry Markey and Rebecca Kennedy on Thursday November 28th at Andersons Live.  This is not your average table quiz and people attending on the night can expect lots of daft antics and silly scenarios. Rounds will include film charades where the presenters re-enact scenes from famous movies and the audience has to guess the movie or Kendy’s ‘lilt me this’ – lilted renditions of well-known songs where teams have to ‘name that tune’.

Our MC for the night is comedian John Colleary, one of the most in demand comic talents in Ireland today. John is a regular at the Cat Laughs Comedy festival the Vodafone Comedy Festival, The Electric Picnic and many more. He has co-written and starred in IFTA nominated shows The Savage Eye (RTE 2) and the Irish Pictorial Weekly (RTE 1). A talented mimic and actor, John has recently featured as one third of The Gusset Brothers on The Tommy Tiernan Show and has also scooped a PPI award for his topical sketch writing and performance on Today FM’s drivetime flagship, the Last Word.

John will be joined by local podcast heroes, Kendy & Raybo, who can usually be found over on the Kendy & Raybo show drinking tea and discussing everything from dodgy auditions to Chuck Norris, the ploughing championships, the GAA and everything in between. Terry Markey who launched the Comedy Open Mic will join in the fun along with open mic regulars Erin Fox and Rebecca Kennedy.

We hope you can join us for a night of side splitting laughter and mayhem!

This is one of the festival’s year round fundraising events, Director Tara McGowan says, ‘We like to run events that are good fun – essentially a good night out – whilst also raising funds for the festival which takes place year round ’.  Brendan Tierney, one of the festival’s directors, recently launched the So Funny Sligo Comedy Festival and has been very implemental in getting this night off the ground. We plan to make this an annual Christmas affair.
