The SO Sligo Food and Cultural Festival is just around the corner. It’s always a really interesting festival with lots to see and do for all the family. The festival will run alongside the Yeats Day celebrations, so all the more reason to come to Sligo and see just what’s on offer.

The festival begins on Wednesday June 10th when Aniar will be back with a pop-up-restaurant at The Model. The fabulous food trail also launches, this year it’s bigger and better than ever with 26 restaurants taking part. There is something to suit all tastes including Duo of duck, spring roll and pate from Eala Bhan, smoked haddock rissoles with summer salsa from Osta Cafe and even crocodile medallion from the Swagman! On Thursday the 11th the Yeats Nobel Dinner takes place at the Radisson Hotel. The guest of honour at the dinner will be Edna O’Brien, ‘Grande Dame’ of Irish literature.

This year’s programme in and around the Factory Performance Space at Quay Street in Sligo will feature the latest from the Sligo food scene and promises an exciting two evenings of talks, tastings and demonstrations from leading Sligo Food Entrepreneurs on Thursday 11th and Friday 12th June 2015.There is also a Lunchtime demonstration by JP McMahon from Aniar Galway in the Factory. John and Sally McKenna from the renowned McKenna’s Guides will open proceedings on Thursday.

Other highlights of the festival include the World Irish Stew championships, yoga and breakfast in Strandhill, cookery book swap and the ever popular pizza making workshop for children. To find out the full programme click here.
