Sligo Town as Ireland’s Digital Town for 2019

IE Domain Registry, the company that manages and maintains Ireland’s .ie domain name, is pleased to announce Sligo town as Ireland’s Digital Town for 2019. Now in its second year, the Digital Town initiative promotes awareness, knowledge, use and understanding of the internet in Ireland by its citizens, businesses and communities.
It also highlights the benefits and possibilities of the internet and celebrates the digital achievements of a local town.

What is happening as part of Digital Town 2019?
During September and October, IE Domain Registry, working with Sligo County Council, Sligo Local Enterprise Office, Sligo Chamber of Commerce, Sligo Business Improvement District (BID), South Sligo Smart Community and Sligo IT amongst others, will plan and oversee a number of digital events for businesses, citizens, community groups and school children.

BREAKFAST BYTES EVENT
‘Breakfast Bytes’ – an exclusive opportunity to hear the stories of various companies’ journeys to digital success. They will share their experiences, tactics that worked and insights into customer expectations. It will be facilitated by Ocean FM’s Claire Ronan. There will be plenty of audience interaction and will be limited to 30 attendees.

DINE & SHINE EVENT
‘Dine and Shine’– an exclusive, intimate evening event to hear three companies’ journeys to digital success. The panel will share their experiences of bringing their businesses online (good and bad!), the tactics that worked and insights into customer expectations. It will be facilitated by Ocean FM’s Claire Ronan. Audience participation is
encouraged! This exclusive event is limited to just 30 attendees.

DIGITAL TOOLS TO SAVE TIME AND MONEY IN YOUR BUSINESS
A lunchtime, drop-in workshop for business owners to get practical demonstrations of
tools they can use to save time and money in running their business. The MC will be Jess
Kelly, Newstalk’s Technology Correspondent.

CELEBRATION EVENT
The programme of events will culminate in a special event to celebrate Sligo as Ireland’s
Digital Town 2019, including a panel discussion on The Digital Town featuring local and
national business experts. The event MC will be Bobby Kerr of Newstalk.
