Sligo Swimming Spots

With the summer holidays coming to a close, and most people returned to Sligo we thought we’d give a shout out to Sligo ‘s Swimming Spots. So we can enjoy the rest of the sun (and rain) before school starts back. Needless to say, please be aware of the power of the sea and only venture out if you are a competent swimmer. Most of these spots are unattended by lifeguards. Read more on Irish Water safely here.

Bishops Pool Mullaghmore

This lovely swimming spot empties and fills with the tide so make sure you plan your visit for high tide. A natural beautiful pool that has gorgeous views over to Donegal Bay.

Aughris Pier

Great little spot for swimming and pier jumping. Make sure you go at high tide. You can also take a lovely walk around Aughris Head.

The Lodge – Dorrin’s Strand

A calm mini bay. Wade out through the seaweed and voila. Gorgeous swims to be had.

Poll Gorm in Easkey

Possibly one of our faves. Such a magical swimming spot. There are stairs down to the pool and a life buoy is available. Make sure the tide is out.

The Pool in Rosses Point

The pool needs to be full tide to swim in. Lots of locals head here for their morning freshen up. Coffee at Fish and Bean or The Little Cottage afterwards.
