Sligo Summer Festival No.2 is upon us!

The countdown is on to the final festival of the Summer in town as the Sligo Summer Festival bring us their second festival this weekend. After a hugely successful May event, the regular August slot is here.

Scouting for Girls, Chasing Abbey, Haddaway, Samantha Mumba, Kieran Quinn & Guests and Patrick Feeney headline the weekend. The car park is expected to be full each night and patrons are advised to get in early and remember, when the car park is full, it’s full.

As well as the headliners, a host of local acts including the Paul Kelly Band, Some Remain, The Little Big Band, Victims of Democracy, Katie Cassidy and Whatever Suits will start things off each day, with more to be announced.

There are also a number of fringe events for the festival, as ROM bring their Festival Bootcamp on the Saturday at 1pm, Sligo Pride festival will add some colour to the stage at 3pm Saturday and the Family Fun Day will be on the Sunday (2-4pm), so there will be something for everyone over the weekend.

The festival will continue it’s Green Aware initiative this weekend as they reduce plastic and encourage be people to ‘Go Green’. Whether it’s using public transport or buying one of the new Festival Re-Usable Plastic Cups at one of the local bars, the festival hopes everyone does their bit.

The music runs from 6-11.30pm and as always, it’s only €3 Admission and U8 Kids go free. This Community Festival relies on the people of Sligo coming along and spreading the word, so be sure to tell all your family and friends from afar.
