Sligo St. Patrick’s Day Parade
After two years of restrictions leading to no parade in town, the Sligo St. Patrick’s Day Parade committee have gone all in for this year and will host a five Day festival across the town.
As always, the parade will be the key event of the weekend but there will also be 5 days and nights of music, busking, as well as a Street Carnival.
“After two years of attempting to celebrate our 50th Parade in Sligo, it’s great to finally get things moving again and bring huge crowds to our town and county”, said Chairman Finbarr Filan.
“As it is a special celebration for us, we wanted to create something bigger and better than ever before. As well as the 5 days and nights of entertainment, we are actively trying to get more floats into the parade, with a real focus of fun, novelty and performance based floats”, said Finbarr.
The biggest addition for this years festival is 3 nights of live music at the Open Air space in Stephen St Car Park. The huge gig rig will be back in place and with a capacity of 5000 people, it promises to be an amazing atmosphere with headliners such as Stocktons Wing, Jake Carter and SMASH HITS!
On Friday there will be a FREE Street Carnival from 4-6pm in the Stephen St Car Park area and surrounding streets which will feature Street Entertainers, Samba Bands, Live DJ, Face Painters and lots more. On Saturday from 2-4pm, there will be a big charity busk at The Italian Quarter area in town. Some of Sligo’s finest musicians will perform to help raise funds for Focus Ireland and The Irish Red Cross Ukraine Appeal.
As if that wasn’t enough, there will be over 100 live gigs in venues around town all week. All details of which can be found at www.sligomusicians.com
