Sligo Scenic Drives with Walks

There are some lovely scenic drives in the the Sligo area and most of them have the chance of a short walk thrown in too.

Mullaghmore Head

While you can walk the headland, it also makes a great drive with a walk on the beach thrown in.

Aughris Head

Enjoy exploring the coast road to Aughris Head with a walk the beach, the cliffs or down to the pier. You could add a picnic on nearby Dunmoran Strand as well.

Highwood

A trip around Lough Arrow has some great views from Highwood and there is a walk that links into the Miners Way

Lough Gill

A drive around Lough Gill is scenic in any weather. See Parkes Castle and the Lake Isle of Inisfree. There are lovely walks at Troll Wood, O’Rourke’s Table, Deerpark and Creeveylea Abbey.

Gleniff Horseshoe

This wonderful drive (can also be a walk or cycle) in north Sligo features a magnetic road, the wonderful cliffs and view of Diarmuid and Grainne’s cave. There are also forest walks which start from the Old Mill site.

Glencar Valley

Take a trip around Glencar and walk up to some of the beautiful waterfalls.

Lough Talt

Take a drive in the Ox Mountains and walk the Lough Talt loop

Ladies Brae

Breathtaking views and lots of road walking opportunities at the Ladies Brae in the Ox Mountains.

Easkey and Enniscrone

Sea views from the drive and lots of beach walking opportunities.
