Sligo Jazz Festival 2021
The Sligo Jazz Festival 2021 takes place from 20-25 July. The events, include a fascinating zoom webinar by David O’Rourke on Thursday 22 July, 5pm, called “Solving the Riddle”. SOLVING THE RIDDLE Will take a closer under the hood of some of the famous arrangements by Nelson Riddle for artists like Frank Sinatra, Ella Fitzgerald, Linda Ronstadt, Nat King Cole, Dean Martin and so many more. Black Pig Festival Fun Run
Enniscrone’s annual fun run, through Enniscrone and the surrounding countryside. Chipped timing, and unique medal for all. Run will be held in accordance with public health regulations of the time. Proceeds from this years event go to Pieta House. Online registration only in advance eventbrite! Register here.
Fleadh Fest Sligo 2021
Between August 1st-9th, Sligo will play host to a number of online events every day, streaming free to air on online platforms, principally the Fleadhfest website and on their social media channels, but also their partner channels, including that of TG4, their principal media partner. Concerts featuring some of the biggest names in traditional Irish music will be streamed LIVE on Fleadhfest.ie, FREE to view anywhere around the world. In addition, TG4 will broadcast shows during the festival on Friday-Sunday 6th-8th August. Check out the line up here.
Tread Softly Festival 2021
Tread Softly is a festival inspired by the landscape, mythology and people of County Sligo. The festival works with writers and artists providing a platform for unique and large-scale collaborations between artists and communities within the Sligo landscape. In 2021, the festival will include events inspired by the anniversary of Colmcille’s birth and his associations with Sligo. See www.treadsoftly.ie for more information.
Sligo Pride Festival 2021
This year’s Pride festival runs from 2-8th August this year. The final line up is to be fully confirmed but previous events have included; the time honoured tradition of Pride’s Banner Making Workshop, Open Mic Night, Pride Parade followed by the Pride Takeover of the Sligo Summer Festival stage, and After Party where The Outing Festival gave us a ‘Taste of the Outing’ before Swagman Sunday Chillout to wind down. Boxstravaganza 2021
We were lucky enough to attend the last live Hagstravaganza event before lockdown. Although at the date of writing this pieces it’s still not certain the event will take please at the venue, you can buy a brewery festival box of beer from across the globe, from some of the world’s most interesting brewers. You can enjoy this box of beer at home while tuning into the festival here
Spilt Milk Festival 2021
Spilt Milk Festival have just announced the dates for their third edition of the festival. This event will take place from Friday 19th to Sunday 21st November. With the line-up yet to be confirmed, the event organisers are hopeful that the gigs can take place in-person. Previous acts have included the spoken word, audio-visual and radio broadcasts.
