Sligo Hub went along to see Gaslight performed by Sligo Drama Circle. After a sell out run in November, Gaslight came back for a second run – also a sell out. The performance took place in the intimate setting of Kilmacowen Hall. It was an excellent venue and it felt like the audience were part of the play.
Every character was totally believable from bewildered Bella to manipulative Jack. The full cast were Bella Manningham (Orla Mc Sharry); Jack Manningham (Barry Deignan); Elizabeth (Áine Gilmore); Nancy (Niamh Leahy); ex-Detective Rough (Gerry Farrell). Not only did the cast have to learn a huge amount of lines, they also had perfect English accents.
It was very hard hitting, feeling that we were in the Mannigham’s living room, watching the torment but this was relieved somewhat when Detective Rough and his saucy shirt arrived.
The set, lighting and costumes were all excellent. It really was a professional show and we commend all involved.
