A ‘secret’ postcard exhibition, organised by Hyde Bridge Gallery at Yeats Society Sligo has received an extraordinary response from established, emerging and young artists alike. The exhibition will open on Tuesday December 4 2018. Works will be available to buy from 6pm sharp. Chair of Hyde Bridge Gallery Nuala Clarke said; “we are delighted with this great response to Rún and grateful for the artists who have provided works of very high quality. At €50 for every work, we expect it will be ‘Black Tuesday’ on launch day, with hundreds of works to choose from. And proceeds will all support the next generation of visual artists in Ireland.”
Rún – the Irish word for ‘a secret’ is the first secret exhibition to be run by the Hyde Bridge. All works are postcard size and all works will be sold for €50. Buyers discover the identity of the artist only after they have chosen the work they like.
Rún will help raise funds for the Gallery to continue its important work of supporting young and emerging artists, finding their voice and finding a place to exhibit their work. The Gallery already collaborates with IT Sligo’s Fine Art degree programme and awards one solo exhibition and one place in a group exhibition to graduate students. Hyde Bridge also works with Primary Colours, part of Sligo County Council’s arts office projects, introducing contemporary art to primary school children.
Established, renowned artists who have taken up the invitation to support their younger colleagues include; Joe Dunne, Susan Early, Aidan Crotty, Tina Brooks, Gary Robinson, Kaye Maahs, Helen Blake, Heidi Wickham, Clea van der Grijn, Bernadette Kiely, Cormac O’Leary, Keith Wilson, Philip Lyndey,
Tom Climent and Sue Morris.
Rún is supported by Creative Ireland Sligo and Sligo County Council. The Hyde Bridge Art Gallery committee members work on a voluntary basis and have created a wonderful exhibition and a wonderful opportunity to share beautiful and inspiring works of art.
