Glenwood
If you are looking for an easy enough walk Glenwood between Coolaney and the N59, might be just the place. As you drive along the Hungry Rock road you will see the sign for Glenwood at a car park. There are some steps down to a flat enough forest walk.
On a clear day you will get spectacular views of Knocknarea and Sligo Bay.
Something to look out for is just up from the car park – in the Coolaney direction you can see the Hungry Rock. This is a flat rock that looks like a slab and not to be confused with Hawk’s Rock – the more imposing rock on the left as you go to Coolaney. The Hungry Rock was named after those who died near the rock during the famine.
You can read more about Glenwood on the Sligo Walks website. Occasionally there may be work ongoing by Coillte so just be aware of that.
