Parents of Secondary School Students (Sligo) – Free Info night on learning
October 10, 2019 @ 6:30 pm - 8:00 pm
This is a free Information Night for parents of secondary school students, brought to you by Dr Seán Lally, The Study Coach.
If you have an interest in helping your son/daughter learn about how the brain works when it comes to learning, then I encourage you to attend this free event in The Sligo Park Hotel on October 10th, 2019 at 7.30pm.
This information night will consist of a 45-60 mins talk where I introduce some strategies that you can directly use and bring back to your students at home,
Topics covered include:
why learning is misunderstood
how the brain tricks us when it comes to studying (and how we can overcome this)
developing focus in a world full of distraction
the areas where we can make the most immediate and impactful gains
the difference between goals and systems and where we should be concentrating
how we can introduce study methods that can last a lifetime
Additionally, I will hold a Q+A session at the end of the talk where I answer as many questions as I can, directly from the parents in attendance. These Q+A sessions have proved very popular over the years and I enjoy being able to deal with “real” questions, and not just the theory of learning.
It is my intention to provide valuable information to parents, for free, at this informaton night.
I also inform those in attendance of the student seminars that are held approximately 10-11 days after the information night. The Junior Cert Cycle Student Seminars are held on a Saturday, and the Leaving Cert Cycle Students Seminars are held on a Sunday, from 10am-2pm.
More information on the seminars (in numerous locations nationwide) can be found on
I look forward to welcoming you to this Parent Information Night and who knows, maybe you’ll learn something valuable and enjoy doing so! 🙂
Take care and be sure to book early as these events tend to fill up fast.
Seán Lally, The Study Coach
