Grovember 2019

November 11 @ 12:00 am - 11:59 pm

Every year in the Sligo Cancer Support Centre we facilitate a fundraising event for the month of November called GROVEMBER. The idea behind GROVEMBER is for males, either as a group or on their own, to grow their hair, moustaches or beards and get their family/friends/local people to sponsor them. It is a lot of fun as some men take photos for their social media to share their progress. They also develop new friendships with their fellow ‘hairy’ colleagues/members of the community.
We have a number of men coming through our doors whether it be as a cancer patient or supporting their loved ones through cancer. In Irish society, men sometimes can find it hard to talk about their cancer experiences and with this in mind it is very important that we do whatever we can to help them along the way.
All money raised goes straight back into the Sligo Cancer Support Centre whereby cancer patients and their families receive complimentary support on their own journeys through Cancer. We provide Counseling, Holistic Therapies, Bereavement Support, Men’s Cancer Support Group and a number of other support services. This service is provided for people from all over the NorthWest including Sligo, Leitrim, Roscommon, Mayo and South Donegal.
If you would get involved in this years GROVEMBER please contact our Wine Street Centre on 071 9170399 or the Tubbercurry Centre on 089 4480527.
