Eight of the best – Sligo Ice Creams

We are blessed with the weather and what better way to cool down than with an ice cream. Here are ten of the best places making or serving ice cream cones and sundaes in Sligo town and county. In no particular order:

Mammy Johnston’s in Strandhill. Located right at the sea and serving all kinds of flavours, the latest one is Barry’s tae and biscuits! They also have all sorts of toppings – personal favourite is melted Nutella.

Fabios, Sligo town. Homemade Italian Ice-cream in the heart of Sligo. All made from scratch and there’s something to suit everyone including dairy free and sugar free.

Hooked, Sligo town. Two words – knickerbocker glory!

Maple Moose, Enniscrone. Always coming up with unsual flavours, not least the Ed Sheeran tomato ketchup flavour!

Gelati, Enniscrone. Artisan ice cream shop that recently won the best flavour in the world with their gin flavour sorbet! If you are lucky they might have it on  the menu when you visit.

Yeats Tavern, Drumcliff. They do a few desserts made with ice cream, our personal favourite is the banana, cream and ice cream, smothered in toffee sauce.

Langs in Grange serve a selection of sundaes – worth checking them out on the Friday Steak Night too.

O’Hara’s Ice cream make their own ice cream and are located at the Strandhill People’s Market. We had the snickers ice cream recently, it was delicious!
