Christmas in Sligo
There are lots of events taking place in Sligo for the Christmas season. Here are some of the things we’ve noticed:
The Santa visits
Christmas starts at the Quayside Shopping Centre on Friday 23rd November when Santa arrives in a horse drawn carriage at 6 pm.
Sligo BID have a big day of celebration on Saturday 24th November when the Sligo town Christmas lights get switched on. Ocean FM will broadcast live on O’Connell Street from 2 – 6 pm. There will be face painting and free Santa hats and the man himself switches on the lights at 5.30 pm.
Johnston Court Shopping Centre have Santa arriving on Saturday 1st December at 2 pm. There will also be lots of free, family fun.
Skreen Dromard Christmas Parish Bazzar. 2nd December at 1pm. Santa, Craft Stall, Gift Stall, Carol Singing, Dance Display, Raffles, Cake Sale and more.
Five Star Fun in Grange have Santa visiting on Sunday 9th and 16th of December from 3 – 5 pm. This Santa was voted the best in Sligo last year.
Santa town is on at Sligo Folk Park, Riverstown on the 15th and 16th of December at 3 pm and 5 pm.
The Christmas Markets
Rathcormac Artisan Food and Craft Market is on every Saturday from 10am – 3pm and the Christmas Markets are on Thursday 20th and Friday 21st December 5pm- 8pm Saturday 22nd 10am – 4pm
Sligo Christmas Market is on every day at the Quayside Shopping Centre from November 23rd until Christmas Eve
Tir Na Nog in Collooney have a Christmas Market on Saturday the 1st of December from 1-6pm Santa will arrive and there will be lots of artisan crafts stalls as well as some free activities for the children.
Coláiste Iascaigh’s Christmas Market. Thursday 6th December at the Courthouse in Easkey. Transition Year and Leaving Cert Applied students will be selling Christmas crafts and products. Refreshments also available.

Sunday 2nd December – 11am-4pm
Sunday 9th December – 11am-4pm
Friday 14th December – 5pm-9pm
Sunday 16th December – 11am-4pm
Friday 21st December -5pm-9pm
Sunday 23rd December – 11am-4pm
Drummartin Christmas Markets (just outside Tubbercurry) are on Nov 24th, Dec 1st, 8th, 15th, 22nd. From 10.30 am to 2 pm
Enniscrone Women’s Activity Club will host their Annual Christmas Market at the Ocean Sands Hotel, Enniscrone on Sunday 2nd December from 11-5pm
The Avalon Centre are hosting a Festive Family Day of Fun on 15th December from 4-7pm
Christmas Sports Events
Special Olympics Polar Plunge is on Saturday December 1st at 11.30am in Rosses Point
St. John’s F.C. Turkey Trot is on Sunday 2nd December 1:30pm. Starting and finishing at Doorly Park playground, Riverside, Sligo. 5km predictive race /fun run.
Kennedy Family Trust St Stephen’s Day Swim at Aughris Beach at 11.30am
