Christmas Day in Sligo
We know that for some Christmas Day can be a difficult time so there are a few things on that might be of interest. A lot are swims but even if you go along to cheer the people on it might brighten your day.
Sligo Parkrun have a 5km run beginning at 9.30am in Doorly Park, opposite Argos. A fun way to kick off the big day. Everyone is welcome, of all ages & all abilities. Run, Jog, Walk, Skip or whatever takes your fancy.
There’s a Christmas Day swim at Streedagh Beach at 10am in aid of Focus Ireland.
Rosses Point have a Christmas Day Swim in aid of the Sligo Branch of the Alzheimers Society of Ireland. The swim is at 12 noon with registration from 11.15am.
The 19th Annual Lough Arrow Swim takes place on Christmas Day at 1pm from Flynn’s Pier in aid of North West Hospice.
St. Stephen’s Day and beyond
26th December Enniscrone Beach at 10am 5K and 3K fun run on Enniscrones’ beautiful beach. Suitable for all the family, even bring the dog! Event will be timed, spot prizes throughout. Festive refreshments for all participants. Proceeds in aid of Brendan Devaney to help in his treatment for lymes disease.
The annual Kennedy Family Trust St Stephen’s Day Swim takes place at 12 noon sharp beside the Beach Bar in Aughris, West Sligo. Music and refreshments afterwards, as well as a colouring competition draw. Please support. Thursday, December 26th. Just been told about this – Charity Swim at Raghley, Co. Sligo. 1pm
Coolaney United Annual Duck Race is on this Afternoon at 2pm down by the side of the River Inn, Coolaney. Sweets and treats for all and you can still purchase a Duck and join in the “quack”
Goal Mile takes place St. Stephen’s Day at 3pm starting at County Sligo Golf Club. This is a family friendly event with complimentary finger food after in the clubhouse.

North Sligo Agricultural show Annual Turkey Trot will take place Friday 27th December at 2pm. Starting at the sports complex in Grange. Registering at 1.30pm. Runners, Walkers, kids, all welcome. All Children under 12 must have a guardian with them while taken part. Refreshments will be served afterwards.
