Back in February 2016 a meeting was held in Coolaney asking if anyone was interested in starting a community cafe in the village. There was great interest and as the weeks went on a pop-up cafe opened in Coolaney Community Centre. Everyone volunteered their time and between them they turned a dream into reality. People came in their droves, it was so busy the food ran out! It was amazing how the community pulled together to make this happen.
After several months of pop-up cafes, fundraising and funding applications the foundations have now been started on the permanent Cafe Fia. This will be the first community cafe in Connaught and if you’d like to find out more about it come along to the AGM Tuesday 30th July at 8pm in Coolaney Community Centre. All are welcome to attend to find out more about this very exciting venture.
